Memorial Day Activities – Hosted by Fairport Harbor VFW Post 7754 and Zion Lutheran Church.
The VFW will be on the pier at 8:30 a.m., then they will go to Memorial Park at 9:00 a.m. From 9:00 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. there will be a ceremony for the Veterans Memorial.
The Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) along with the Village of Fairport Harbor are working on a plan to replace the current monument to honor the Veterans and the Citizens of Fairport Harbor. On Memorial Day at 9:00 a.m. there will be a ceremony to acknowledge the Veterans Memorial that has been in place since 1945. The memorial has seen many repairs and upgrades, but it has reached a point where it is no longer easily accessible to the public. Discussions on a rendering for a new memorial are underway.
At 9:30 a.m. there will be a bike parade to Zion Lutheran Cemetery – located at: 550 East Street. The VFW will raise the colors, and the band will play the National Anthem.
