Elected Officials
Fairport Harbor operates as a general law municipality under the Ohio Revised Code (ORC), which governs the structure, powers, and responsibilities of our local government. As a general law village, Fairport Harbor follows the statutory framework set by the State of Ohio rather than a home rule charter. This means that the Village's authority is defined by state law.
The Village is led by an elected Mayor and Village Council, who work together to serve our residents, uphold community standards, and guide the future of Fairport Harbor. Their roles include setting policies, approving budgets, ensuring the delivery of essential services, and fostering economic development while maintaining the Village’s historic and community-oriented character. Their leadership is essential in promoting public safety, infrastructure improvements, and quality of life for all who call Fairport Harbor home.
The Mayor appoints the Village Administrator, Chief of Police, Chief of Fire, and Fiscal Officer with the approval of Village Council. These appointed professional public servants are responsible for managing the daily operations of the Village, overseeing public safety and emergency services, and ensuring financial accountability.
