Zoning Department
The purpose of the Zoning Department is to enforce Chapter 11 [Planning and Zoning Code] and Chapter 13 [Building Code] of the Codified Ordinances of the Village of Fairport Harbor. The intent is to promote the public health, safety, morals, comfort and general welfare of the citizenry; to conserve and protect property and property values; to secure the most appropriate use of land, and to facilitate adequate but economical provision of public improvements, all in accordance with the comprehensive plan of the Village.

- Bed & breakfast
- BZA appeal
- Commercial / Industrial (interior remodel)
- Commercial / Industrial (new / addition)
- Conditional use permit
- Contractor registration

- Marine operation permit

Under the authority of the Board of Commissioners, the Lake County Building Department is responsible for the administration and enforcement of the applicable State of Ohio Building codes for residential, commercial, and industrial construction in its jurisdiction. These Building codes provide the department’s inspectors with guidelines to help ensure the health and welfare of the residents. Certified by the State of Ohio, the Building Department provides Plan Reviews, Inspection Services, and Building, Electrical, Mechanical and Fire Protection Code information.
